Bohempia barefoot shoes are made from materials that are not only eco-friendly, but also functional, durable, and supremely comfortable. Our care doesn’t stop at choosing materials — we carefully select our partners as well. We work exclusively with companies that share our passion for sustainability, operate environmentally responsible production, and hold the appropriate certifications.

BOHEMPIA BAREFOOT SNEAKERS
LACES
: Cotton
The laces for our barefoot shoes come from a Czech company with a tradition dating back to the 19th century. Made from strong, durable cotton, they keep their shape even with daily use thanks to traditional craftsmanship. They perfectly complement the design of our barefoot shoes, adding both practicality and style.
CANVAS FABRIC
: Hemp
We make our sneaker canvas from hemp yarn sourced from Romania, from a company that honors traditional hemp farming methods and prioritizes minimal environmental impact. The yarn is then woven into fabric at a Czech weaving mill. After that, it goes to a family-run Czech company where it’s dyed using eco-friendly colors.
SOLES
: Natural Rubber
Our thin, flexible soles are made from premium natural rubber sourced from Sri Lanka. This material highlights the 100% vegan and sustainable nature of our barefoot shoes, while providing exceptional comfort and functionality.
VEGAN SUEDE
: Recycled PET Bottles
We also sew Bohempia barefoot shoes using premium vegan suede - Ultrasuede®, made from recycled polyester fibers, including plant-based ones. This innovative material helps us reduce our ecological footprint and dependence on fossil fuels, while ensuring high quality and planet-friendly production.
PRODUCTION OF BHMP SNEAKERS
The vegan Ultrasuede®, dyed hemp canvas for sneakers, and shoe laces all come together at a family company in Romania. This company specializes not only in making soles from natural rubber but also in complete production of our barefoot shoes.
The entire operation runs on solar energy, meaning every pair of Bohempia barefoot shoes is made with minimal environmental impact. Plus, the shoes are made within the European Union, so they comply with strict regulations and quality standards. Their modern approach and mindful production methods make them the best partner we could have found.

LACES
: Cotton
For our fall/winter barefoot shoes, we once again chose the time-tested laces from a Czech family-owned company. Made from high-quality cotton, they are strong and durable, holding their shape even with frequent wear.
VEGAN LEATHER
: Partially recycled microfiber
Our new collection is made with vegan leather from a traditional Spanish manufacturer. The material is lightweight, breathable, water-resistant, and exceptionally durable – its quality even exceeds the strict EU strength standards for work footwear.
SOLES
: Natural Rubber
The exclusive 7 mm stitched sole with an anti-slip pattern keeps you steady even on wet and snowy sidewalks. It protects against the cold, preserves all the barefoot benefits, and together with the water-repellent upper, reliably carries you through the winter.
STITCHED CONSTRUCTION

Fully stitched and glued construction ensures excellent durability, flexibility, and reliable protection against moisture – ready for the demanding conditions of everyday walking.

While our hemp sneakers are made in Romania, the winter collection called for a different approach – closer to home.
The Czech Republic has a rich shoemaking tradition, kept alive today by skilled craftsmen and traditional techniques, including genuine fully-stitched construction. This is exactly what our winter barefoot shoes needed: durability, flexibility, and true craftsmanship. That’s why the entire new collection is made in Czech Republic – where BOHEMPIA has its home and heart.
